Position Overview

The Pathway Partner at Montgomery Animal Clinic serves as a clinical leader and future co-owner within the Legacy Veterinary Group framework. This role blends high-quality medical practice, clinical leadership, team mentorship, and structured ownership development.

Reporting Structure

  • Clinical guidance from Owner-Doctor(s) and Medical Leadership
  • Operational collaboration with the Practice Manager
  • Administrative support through Legacy Veterinary Group

Purpose of the Role

The Pathway Partner is responsible for diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries, maintaining and elevating standards of care, leading the medical team, supporting hospital growth, and progressing toward structured ownership.

Position Type & Schedule

Full-time

  • Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Weekend shifts may be required
  • Occasional overtime based on caseload

Education & Licensure Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent)
  • Active North Carolina veterinary license
  • NC Privilege License
  • DEA License

All licenses must be valid and in good standing.

Core Responsibilities

Medical Leadership

  • Diagnose and treat medical and surgical cases
  • Develop and implement treatment plans
  • Perform surgery and oversee anesthesia protocols
  • Interpret diagnostic imaging and laboratory results
  • Maintain ethical and professional standards
  • Humanely perform euthanasia when appropriate

Team Development & Supervision

  • Mentor veterinary technicians and assistants
  • Provide clinical guidance to the healthcare team
  • Promote a culture of collaboration and professionalism
  • Participate in monthly team meetings and training

Client Communication

  • Educate clients on treatment plans and preventative care
  • Provide compassionate consultation and follow-up
  • Promote public education on zoonotic disease awareness
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records (SOAP format)

Operational Collaboration

  • Participate in business development initiatives
  • Follow hospital discharge and treatment protocols
  • Collaborate with management on workflow efficiency
  • Support hospital growth initiatives

Technical & Knowledge Requirements

Working knowledge of veterinary medical principles, diagnostic and surgical procedures, pharmacology, radiographic and ultrasound interpretation, laboratory diagnostics, infection control, and regulatory compliance.

Strong computer proficiency is required for electronic medical records, laboratory ordering, and client communication systems.
